Superior Construction Completes Emergency Repairs on I-95 Bridge Beam After Truck Collision
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 5, 2024) — Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, has completed emergency repairs on the I-95 overpass at Airport Road/Max Leggett Parkway in Jacksonville. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) contracted with Superior after an overextended hydraulic dump truck heading west on Max Leggett Parkway hit the overpass in late August, damaging a beam.

Superior crews began work on the project on September 15. They used a crane to remove the severely damaged beam. This proved challenging since the beam had several large sections of concrete missing.

The use of a crane also required Superior to coordinate closely with officials at nearby Jacksonville International Airport. Superior’s project team developed a comprehensive traffic control plan to ensure safety and minimize disruptions at the busy interchange.
After work was completed in late October, Superior received this email from FDOT Jacksonville Construction Manager Sam Lansdale:
“Superior, the final product looks exceptional. Thank you for taking so much pride in your work.”

FDOT has previously called upon Superior to conduct emergency repairs to the state’s highway system, including after Hurricanes Ian and Milton.
