Go Beyond the Classroom

An internship should do more than fill a line on your resume. Through Superior’s STEP program, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to active infrastructure projects and gain hands-on experience that prepares you for your career after graduation.

What to Expect
Our 12-week program is unlike any other, with benefits that go well beyond the end of your internship.
  • College credit
  • Team-building exercises
  • A mentor to guide you
  • Lunch-n-learns
  • Hourly compensation
  • Fun corporate activities
  • Real-world experience
  • Tours of active project sites
  • Opportunity to intern for three consecutive years
  • A solid network of construction professionals
  • Engagement with all levels of company leadership
  • Potential to be hired post-graduation

Do Real Work That Matters

At Superior, interns don’t spend the summer watching from the sidelines. You’ll contribute to active projects, solve real challenges and work alongside the teams building roads, bridges and infrastructure that serve communities every day.

Whether you’re interested in engineering, project management, field operations or corporate support, you’ll gain meaningful experience while learning from professionals who are invested in your success.

Understand How Projects Come Together

Construction is a team effort, and every role plays an important part.

STEP internships provide exposure to multiple areas of the business, giving you a broader understanding of how infrastructure projects move from planning and design through construction and completion.

Build Relationships That Last

Some of the most valuable things you’ll gain during your internship aren’t listed on a resume.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who are willing to answer questions, share what they’ve learned and help you grow. Those relationships often become mentors, references and future career opportunities.

Many interns return for additional summers and begin their full-time careers with Superior after graduation.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It…
"The Intern Challenge is one of the biggest and most invaluable projects I have ever worked on. I learned to communicate and compromise when working on a team. Most importantly, I got to experience the process of putting together a bid on a real scenario with real numbers from just the job planning by doing take-offs to different parts of the project."
– 2023 Project Engineer Intern
"SPECTACULAR. The internship far exceeded my expectations. Everyone in the office taught me something new. I do NOT think I'll be able to find this type of environment anywhere else."
– 2023 Project Engineer Intern
"My training and supervision were really good. This is because I was guided, but when I was faced with a challenge, I had to do it myself first. Then, if I was wrong, I was able to learn the proper way afterward, learning from my mistakes."
