Your First Step Into Construction
A laborer helps keep construction projects moving by supporting crews, preparing work areas, handling materials, and learning how jobs are built from the ground up. No trade experience is required, making this a great entry point for someone looking to start a career in construction and explore different opportunities.
Your Starting Point
An apprentice is someone learning a skilled trade while working on real projects. At Superior, many apprentices begin as laborers or current employees who want to advance into a trade. You’ll earn a paycheck, gain hands-on experience, and learn from experienced crews while building the skills needed for a long-term career. Examples of our current apprenticeships are heavy equipment operator, carpentry and pipelaying.
A Proven Skilled Tradesperson
A journeyworker isn’t a job title. It’s a level of achievement that shows you’ve mastered your trade through training, experience, and demonstrated skill. Journeyworkers are trusted to perform their work independently, solve problems in the field, and help train the next generation of craft professionals.
The Crew Leader
A foreman leads a crew of skilled workers in the field. They help plan daily work, coordinate people and equipment, ensure work is completed safely, and keep projects moving forward. Most foremen start in a trade, gain experience, and grow into leadership roles.
The Jobsite Leader
A superintendent oversees construction projects from the field, coordinating crews, schedules, equipment, safety, and day-to-day operations. They work closely with project managers and lead multiple teams to ensure the project is built safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Most superintendents begin in the field and advance through years of experience and leadership growth.
