Superior Construction Earns Five Industry Awards, Including Life Saver Honor

PORTAGE, Ind. (May 11, 2026) — Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, has received five awards from the Construction Advancement Foundation (CAF) and the Northwest Indiana Business Roundtable (NWIBRT), recognizing the company’s commitment to safety, workforce development and craft excellence. 

CAF named Superior its Industrial Contractor of the Year and honored the company with an Excellence in Professional Development award. NWIBRT presented Superior with its Safety Achievement Award, named Mark Jachim and Adam Pajor Outstanding Craftspersons of the Year, and honored Jacob Bliss with the Life Saver Award after he administered CPR to a co-worker on the jobsite until paramedics arrived.

“These awards mean a great deal to us, but what they really represent is the quality of our people,” said Superior Midwest President Dan Sopczak. “Jacob’s actions that day reflect the kind of culture we strive to build every day. Our crews look out for each other.”

Superior’s Industrial Contractor of the Year recognition followed a strong 2025 performance across its industrial portfolio. The company completed more than 1,000 job assignments with one recordable incident, supported by daily toolbox talks, shift-transition handovers and weekly supervisor training.

Behind the Excellence in Professional Development award is a workforce development strategy that includes local and statewide participation alongside leadership and workforce development initiatives like Superior Women in Construction, which has achieved 100% promotion rates for its inaugural leadership class.

The awards come from two of Northwest Indiana’s leading construction industry organizations. CAF is a regional association with more than 500 affiliated contractor companies serving Northwest Indiana. NWIBRT is the area’s largest association of owners, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
