Superior Construction Launches STEP Workforce Development Initiative to Create Pathways Into Construction Careers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 2, 2026) — Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, today announced the launch of STEP (Superior Training & Employment Pathways), a workforce development initiative that brings together the company’s career exploration, training and professional development programs under a unified approach designed to address the industry’s workforce challenges by creating clear pathways into meaningful careers in heavy civil construction.
“Every person has potential. Sometimes they just need someone to help them see it. Too often, people don’t pursue opportunities simply because they don’t know they exist,” said Amy Henningfield, Director of Workforce Development at Superior Construction. “That’s what STEP is all about. We want people to discover careers they may have never considered, believe in what they’re capable of and know they’ll have people supporting them every step of the way.”
Built around that philosophy, STEP brings together Superior’s workforce development efforts under one connected framework that supports individuals from their first introduction to construction through technical training, career advancement and leadership development, whether they’re exploring the industry for the first time or building a lifelong career with Superior.
The initiative includes:
- Career exploration and classroom engagement
- Internships and paid apprenticeships
- Skilled trades training
- Mentorship and leadership development
- Ongoing professional growth opportunities for employees
Together, these efforts will help people discover construction careers, build valuable skills and continue growing throughout every stage of their careers.
“The goal isn’t just to help someone find a job. It’s to help them build a career,” said Jessica Paske, Director of Organizational Development at Superior Construction. “STEP creates opportunities for mentorship, learning and professional growth so our employees can continue discovering what’s possible throughout their careers.”
The launch of STEP follows the company’s recent announcement of a new training facility at its Jacksonville headquarters, further demonstrating its long-term commitment to workforce development.
