Superior Construction Promotes Sarah Lewis to Corporate Controller
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (August 5, 2025) — Superior Construction has promoted Sarah Lewis to Corporate Controller, marking a milestone in her seven-year journey from intern to senior leadership. Lewis brings a unique perspective to the role, having worked her way up through multiple positions in the accounting department since joining the company in 2018.
As Corporate Controller, Lewis will oversee the company’s Work in Progress (WIP) reports. These reports provide the financial story of every project Superior undertakes — tracking revenue, costs, and profit margins throughout each project’s lifecycle. She looks forward to bringing her comprehensive understanding of operations to this leadership role.
“I’ve worked many different roles in the accounting department, so I understand what everyone on my team is doing every day,” Lewis said. “I believe that without the people I work with, Superior wouldn’t be where we are today.”
While it remains relatively uncommon to see women in senior financial roles within the construction industry, Lewis says her advocacy skills, developed through her involvement with Superior Women in Construction (SWiC), contributed to her advancement.
“SWiC has taught me it’s okay to ask for what you want,” Lewis said. “The members have helped me realize I’m not alone in sometimes feeling overlooked as a woman in this industry, so we have to advocate for ourselves.”
In her new role, Lewis plans to focus on maintaining departmental stability, reorganizing duties, and ensuring the company utilizes its existing talent effectively before looking to external hires.
“I want to empower everyone to speak up for themselves, too,” Lewis said.
Her advice to other women considering careers in construction finance is straightforward: “Do it. Infrastructure is a never-ending market that’s never going to die. Plus, as the previous generation of leadership approaches retirement, the industry will need more of us.”
