This project included constructing a new steel plate leveler for the 160-inch plate mill at ArcelorMittal’s Burns Harbor Plant. Superior Construction’s scope of work on this project consisted of excavating, demolition, dewatering, soil retention, and installing concrete foundations. Specific project components included deep foundation construction and precision alignments of thousands of anchor bolts. The project challenges we encountered on this project included the high ground water levels, working around the existing operating line, and an extremely aggressive project schedule. We performed work on this project around-the-clock to meet the schedule requirements.
