Introducing the new
Building on four generations of expertise in complex design-build projects.
The I-65 / I-70 North Split (North Split) project will reconstruct the I-65 and I-70 interchange located in the northeast corner of downtown Indianapolis.

As the second most heavily traveled interchange in Indiana, many structures have exceeded their service life after nearly 50 years in operation. When complete, the $318.2 million project will reduce congestion, improve safety for the community and travelers, and provide a maintenance-free infrastructure for decades to come. Comprised of four sections — the south leg, west leg, east leg, and interchange — this design-build project will replace all pavement, reconfigure the interchange into three levels, eliminate two ramp movements, replace numerous bridge structures, install a new drainage system, improve local streets, replace ITS facilities, and provide new aesthetic and landscape features.

Project Highlights
  • 50 bridge structures
  • 6 movement closures
  • 300,000 SY continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP)
  • 60,000 LF storm drain
  • 4 major construction phases
  • 300,000 SF retaining walls
  • 1 million CY earth work
  • 500,000 SF bridge deck

Philanthropy

At Superior Construction, we don’t just construct highway projects — we build up our local communities, too. Every quarter, we team with INDOT to select a nonprofit or community organization to partner with to demonstrate what working at Superior is all about: making connections where they matter most. Our past work has included days of service at places like Habitat for Humanity, Westminster Neighborhood Services, The Lord’s Pantry at Anna’s House, The Salvation Army, and Gleaners Food Bank.
