Overview

Located near the heart of Purdue University’s campus, the US 52 Bridge Over the Wabash River project spans approximately 960-ft across the River. The scope of the project included the complete demolition and reconstruction of a seven-span bridge structure while simultaneously implementing the environmental protection for both existing wetlands and the Wabash River. Partnering with INDOT Geotechnical and Purdue University, Superior Construction offered students and faculty the ability to conduct static pile testing on 24-inch diameter piling during active construction operations. This was the first project that INDOT utilized this type of testing and pile type on a project.
